Stewart Appleby took it to Greenbrier on Sunday shooting a 59 for the one shot victory last weekend. 2nd Swing Golf takes a look at the bag he used to get there. Appleby birdied the final three holes en route to his victory.
Appleby used fusion technology off the tee with the Callaway FT Tour. It's a pretty modest loft, even for a pro to keep the spin down. It's Callaway's third composite crown and titanium face driver, and Appleby was 21st in driving distance and 39th in driving accuracy over the weekend.
The Aussie also had a Callaway 3-wood in his bag for the weekend. The Diablo Edge Tour Fairway Wood is their latest model.
He also put a forged 3-iron into his bag. A lot of players will put this club in their bag to give them a low lofted iron to hit stingers to cut through the wind, and to help them get out of trouble.
This set of irons mixes a lot of the elements from a blade, thin top line and sole, but also provides some of the forgiveness of a cavity back club. Appleby was pretty accurate approaching greens during the weekend averaging 73% over the four rounds, ranking 40th for the event.
The Callaway wedges a very similar to Cleveland wedges, and provide golfers a lot of options around the green.
The White Hot XG 330 is a relative bargain price putter that you can find for under $100. It's got a of alignment aides that obviously allowed Appleby to put the ball in the hole. He 2nd in putting for Putts Per GIR, and 3rd in Putts per round.
